The goal of the counseling department is to provide a comprehensive program that addresses the academic, career, and personal/social development of all students. The counselor works with teachers, administrators, and parents to provide a positive and caring environment where each child can be successful in school.
School counselors help by...
...listening to feelings and helping children express feelings in appropriate ways. Children can be referred to see the counselor by teachers, administrators, parents, and themselves. The counselor may work with children on a variety of issues including anxiety, family changes or stressors, peer relationships, academic concerns, grief, and more.
...visiting classrooms and sharing ways to get along well in school and in life. All students in grades K-5 will have classroom counseling lessons throughout the year. Lessons include introduction to the counselor, conflict resolution, personal safety, mindfulness, getting along with others and more.

...working with small groups of students on ways to develop resiliency, coping skills, and friendship skills. Small groups are put together based on needs.
